Dining Out in Doha: Taste & Fun Food Festival 2011

BURPPPP!!!

Excuse me, but I am so full. Qatar Tourism Authority offers this year Taste & Fun Food Festival at the Doha Exhibition Centre, starting today until 26th February. And that's were we went today.
Leading hotels and restaurants in Doha (and Al Khor and Umsaeed) are participating in the Food Festival.  There are different food cuisines which costs very cheaply at QR5- QR 15!  We also got excited with QR1-fresh-bread! Really affordable delicious food!  Not to mention that there are classical Arabic music and Jazz band performing on the stage.Pretty awesome, right?
the stage at the festival
Fish Mongolian from Diplomatic Club at 15QR
Empanada from Sheraton Hotel

Intercon's sausage and waffle! yum!

Our find at Aryaas
somai at Chowking
Arabic coffee or tea, anyone?

Yes, it's so obvious that we ate a lot. We also got lots of Tempura from Chopstix/ Grand Regency. Can't really resist all the fancy, cheap and delicious food.

I find the festival this year better than last year's festival except for the lack of bouncing castles. It is much safer and secure this year though. Last year, during the second day of festival, there was a big accident with the bouncing castle which accidentally deflated causing injury to kids - response from the ambulance got delayed, it was almost catastrophic. Lesson learned this year, I suppose. No probable cause of accident (the bouncing castle and other kids activities) and the availability of ambulance, fire truck and police car in every end of the food festival.

kudos on the emergency planning!!

Even though there's no bouncy castles, there's the infamous henna and face painting which kept kids amused.

a turknoy face paint!

henna - kylie just like it a lot

There's just one thing that's better last year: our Mama was with us in Doha. We miss her all throughout - hope next event like this, she'll be with us again. MAMAAAAA, come back here to Doha!!
This was taken during the Food Festival 2010 - the kids were too small - time flies!
It was definitely an educational and fattening experience for all of us every year!

Keep exploring (and eating) !
