Today, the Turknoy explorers got lost and found themselves exploring Al -Shamal.
A relatively new town on the northern tip of the Qatar peninsula, Madinat Al-Shamal is about 107km north of Doha. The speed limit is 120km per hour so ideally will get there in 1 hour from Doha; however, due to road construction, we managed to get there in 1.5 hours.
Did you know that Al-Shamal serves as an administrative centre for a number of coastal villages. Administrative - no wonder! The city is very very quiet! Okay, we went there Saturday so all the people must be resting or chilling at home. The rest of the people we saw and met are so friendly.
The Al-Shamal Park is awesome! Definitely great for family picnics and burning out the kids' energy. We saw several families relaxing under the beautiful weather. The landscapes in the park is very well maintained.
It's a big park perfect for lots and lots of family fun.
A little bit of trivia about Al Shamal: The historic rulers of the Madinat Al Shamal region were the Al Thani family. The Al Thani family forms the ruling emirate of Qatar. Bedouin tribes form the ethnic population of the region.
Keep exploring!
