It's almost halfway through the school year 2011-2012, this means almost 20 sets of spelling words Kylie had mastered. In their school, the Year 1 students are given 10-12 words per week to study and there's a spelling quiz at the end of the week. To date, Kylie got a whopping perfect score in all of these quizzes.
And to think that we don't spend our time studying these words. I even complained to her lovely teacher that the spelling words are way too easy for Kylie. She replied that Kylie is way too advanced and the good thing is, she gets perfect score in all her spelling quizzes.
As much as she meant well, I am a firm believer that it is NOT about scores. It is about challenging Kylie to reach her full potential.
It's a great thing that All About Spelling offers a curriculum which challenges her and teach her in ways more than I could come up with or her teacher could give her along with her classmates. It's a great supplement really for kids her age for both advanced students and for those who are struggling to get their spelling in school.
