My Life in Ruins

I had to copy the blog title from the movie, My Life in Ruins. It just makes me happy to know that I have visited some of the famous ruins from ancient times like Troy. For me, my little existence here in Earth had become justified by knowing that every little thing that we do now will have an impact to the future. These ruins remind me that. Also, for the shallow part, these ruin photos, remind me that I could lose weight again. HA!

It is my wish that everyone would be able to visit these ruins, analyze for themselves if they wish and find their own version of interpretation in the meaning of life through the lives of others long time ago.

I'm so grateful that I saw these and I dream to share this experience to everyone anytime soon!

Exploring Turkey: Troy or Troia

We celebrated our birthdays visiting Troia and exploring the facts and legend of the place! It was such an awesome experience to be able to walk and explore the place. We can almost feel the history and legends unfolding as we walk in summer heat.

Troy was a city, both factual and legendary, located in northwest Anatolia in what is now Turkey, southeast of the Dardanelles and beside Mount Ida - Wikipedia

It gives peace in our hearts yet provides so much thoughts in our minds - it really was mixed emotions walking the path and seeing the ruins right before our very eyes.

For me, it was a dream come true; for the husband, it was nostalgic as he visited the place several times back in his university days; for the kids, there were DUH moments and what-the-heck-is-my-mom-talking-about moments. Maybe it was too early for a 5-year old and a 2-year old to appreciate the place.  We will definitely come back and will be prepared for the kids in the future to discuss mythology.

TROIA MAP - it was a long walk but sooo worth it!

A Hearty Welcome to Troia!

Another portion of the legenday wall!

Our tired 2-year old by the legendary stairs!

There are other factual and legendary artifacts and ruins we were able to explore, a lot of which already skipped our mind yet the memory and longing to go back to Troy remains. And maybe then, we will be able to document our visit way better than this!

Keep exploring!
