Top Ten Dr. Seuss iPad Applications! We have more than ten of these and we have no intention of ranking them and favoring one over the other. They are all favorites of the kids. So, here's our first list of the top ten Dr. Seuss iPad Applications. Enjoy! And hoops, these applications are now on sale for a limited time period - so hurry!

1. And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street - This book is very special as it imparts a great lesson for the kids and for parents too. WE NEED TO NURTURE THE KIDS IMAGINATION. Let them exaggerate, their exaggerated stories are their outlet for their imagination to grow.

We love the iPad application because of the professional narration and background audio. Not to mention that this is Dr. Seuss's first book. And knowing that the manuscript of this book was rejected by 27 publishing houses for being too different and fantasy based.

This book and/ or iPad application is a great reminder that being different is not always bad but rather should be viewed as an opportunity for greatness.

2. The Sneetches The lesson in this classic story is very valuable to us if we really want to thrive in our differences among family members and other people. A classic story to emphasize that racism or classifying an individual according to his color, belief system and origin is not only harmful to the individual but to the society.

3. Horton Hears A Who! We love the book, we love the Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! Movie , we love Horton so definitely, we LOVE LOVE LOVE the iPad application!

" A PERSON'S A PERSON NO MATTER HOW SMALL" is a lesson every human being should comprehend and apply in day to day life. Everyone deserve to be treated fairly at some point in his life, if not every time.

4. Oh, Say Can You Say? It is terrible tongue twisters indeed in this book. It is a great tool for an an advanced  early reader like our little girl. The words are easy but there are some challenging words which teach phonics to early readers. We always have fun reading this by ourselves or just by listening to the narration.

5. Yertle the Turtle We love to hate Yertle's guts as a leader. This is a bit exaggeration but the concept is almost applicable to any leaders. A great story which focuses on WHAT LEADERS SHOULD NOT DO.

6. Gertrude McFuzz: In a word of discontent, this book is a good reminder to be content in what we have. At most times, appreciation of what we have at the moment is the key to happiness.

7. Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?  Needless to say, this is our preschooler's favorite. Our little boy learned all the sounds Mr. Brown can do by listening to this application over and over again. Fun way for kids to learn sounds of everything around us.

8. Happy Birthday to You! This application makes our day-to-day celebration of life so memorable. If only we could do the things listed here every day or just our birthday, life will be A-W-E-S-O-M-E!

9. The Big Brag We love this book, another favorite.  The story tells of a rabbit and a bear, who both boast that they are the "best of the beasts." The rabbit can hear far away, but the bear boasts he can smell father. However , both animals re humbled by a mere worm who looks around the world - right back to his own hill - where he sees "the two biggest fools that have ever been seen!

There's simply no use bragging what we can do, there will always be something better than us. The challenge is to compete with our own self. (okay, that's a bit beyond the moral of the story  - but it's our favorite discussion after reading the book!)

10. Oh, the Thinks You Can Think! Another motivation to be imaginative. OH THE THINGS WE CAN THINK! Anything is possible.

We read Dr. Seuss's omBooks everyday and we just can't help reading them again and again.

Hello, March! Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

It's almost March! February passed by so quickly, our LOVE month theme and we are barely warming up. Well. there's still four days left - thanks to leap year! There are still lot of love activities to do!

We are also so psyche and excited about the month of March - we'll be celebrating DR. SEUSS BIRTHDAY! A MONTH OF LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST - well, that's who Dr. Seuss is to us.

We are ready with our iPAD applications and books and we just can't wait for The Lorax Movie showing in 2nd March.

Qatar Cinema: The Lorax

We are so excited to see The Lorax Movie in Qatar Cinema! It will be showing March 2, 2012 worldwide and we are definitely wishing that it will be shown simultaneously in Qatar cinemas. This date coincides Dr. Seuss 108th birthday!

(On a side note - happy birthday Dr. Suess! Thank you for bringing so much joy and imagination to all kids of all ages around the world!)

We are so crazy about Dr. Suess's books. We have all his books in hard bound books or iPad application.

The movie is, of course, just an adaptation of the original book, The Lorax, but Dr. Suess imagination can be seen all throughout the movie, what a genius he truly was.


In the movie, Audrey is not in the original book. She's been added here and named after Dr. Seuss' widow. So smart, right?

We also love the fact that, Dr. Seuss' widow, Audrey Geisel, was the executive producer of the movie. She is doing the right  thing to keep the memory of her beloved husband alive in all these productions, movies, Broadway musicals, TVs, applications.


The Lorax was first published in 1971 and was met with criticism by the logging community. Long before saving the Earth became a global concern, Dr. Seuss, speaking through his character the Lorax, warned against mindless progress and the danger it posed to the earth's natural beauty.

The book is awesome and great for kids. Grab you copy here and enjoy the book before the movie comes out.

Top Ten Dr. Seuss Ipad Applications!

We love Dr. Seuss! Who doesn't? We love our iPad! Who won't? We love LOVE Dr. Seuss iPad applications!

First of all, yes, I, the working Mommy is guilty. Guilty this time of buying my kids gift hoping to replace the time and attention I could have been giving them if I am not working. I am trying desperately to justify that this is educational and so-worth the money.

Ipad is worth the money. With the free applications alone, we could easily get our money's worth.

Since Turknoy family values book so much - off we explore the iPad applications and found a real treasure in Oceanhouse Media applications especially all of Dr. Seuss books.

So joining the Top Ten Tuesday for the second time,  here are ten of our most-est favorite Dr. Seuss books: Click the link for description of the application.

10. How The Grinch Stole Christmas:  Well, despite not being in Christmas season, the kids enjoyed the omBook being highly interactive. Now, we are planning to watch the movie. They are yet to see the movie.

9.  Horton Hears a Who?  Choosing the movie over this application - as we love Jim Carrey's voice as Horton. The Horton from this omBook is a bit dull but just the same - the story has timeless lessons to impart to kids.

8. I Can Read With My Eyes Shut : This is a highly recommended books for early readers. It convinces them that reading is good for them.

7.  Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?  We definitely had lots of fun making sounds and funny noises!

6.  Gertrude McFuzz: Oh the lesson of not being vain is effectively learned. Too much beauty won't make us fly higher! ;)

5.  Yertle the Turtle; Since we have a stuffed toy pet Myrtle, then kids were able to relate with Yertle being the leader of all Turtles.

4.  Happy Birthday To You!  If our family has an official "mantra", it would be everyday is a celebration - hence, exploring this application made us value making everyday a celebration, especially during birthday!

3. Oh The Thinks You Can Think!  Yes - keep imaging and realizing dreams!

2.  The Sneetches : We loved the book and the application because it teaches us to be fair how we treat our people different from us. Well, we are a global family - and we meet lots of people from different background, culture and status. We need to "naturally" treat people with fairness and without judgement.

1. Oh The Places You'll Go! - Our all time favorite! Kind of consistent with our "Keep exploring" theme  in this blog.

We highly recommended getting a family iPad to be able to enjoy all these applications. Cihangir bought one set of Dr. Seuss books from Amazon which costed us 30 USD plus shipping costs. That's only five books. These applications cost on average 3 USD. Not to mention the interaction and the features. And in our case, space of maintaining books is no longer a problem - these applications are mobile!
