Doha Breakfast: Bateel

We had breakfast in Bateel last Friday for lack of no other choice. We were up and about at 6AM as kids wake up early and of course, parents need to follow the kids lead. Whatever happened to lazy Friday mornings?

Well, we had seen this coming and we intend to enjoy this blessing of togetherness. Bliss requires lots of effort, that we know and experience.

Anyhow, we did enjoy Bateel as we were the only once there. It was as expensive as The Mango Tree and there's not much choice, only Arabic breakfast and American breakfast! We choose the latter and one is not enough - the kids fought for their 'eggs' and we ended up buying two! We did finish it and enjoyed the lavish (though not that tasty!) breakfast.

We are keeping our eyes open for more breakfast choices so we don't have to run out of choice and come back to Bateel again. On the second thought, it was not a bad experience. Just not too high value for money.

This Friday, remembering the cost of Bateel breakfast, we ended up staying in and the kids had eat-all-you-can eggs made by Mommy and they are happier.

Doha Breakfast: The Mango Tree

The Mango Tree is just beside Carluccio's in The Pearl and eversince we had breakfast in Carluccio's we have been curious about The Mango Tree. And we went in  such a perfect timing - they were offering Buy 1, Get 1 Breakfast Free during the Eid holidays. 

It was such a refreshing feeling to have Asian fancy breakfast at a big discount! Score! Although we find the prices a tad expensive (without the promotion), the customer service is really superb and notable. The food tastes so delectably Asian - of course, we love it so much! 

The ambiance is great, we had the option to dine alfresco but since the weather is still humid, we preferred to be seated inside where the setting is for real fancy dining. Not just Asian - fancy Asian. 

We were given sample drinks - which we love and there's a free appetizer which the kids devoured in seconds. We just love  free stuff! 

The breakfast is a combination of Western and Asian - like enjoying two worlds in one place - it's very rare we enjoyed this breakfast in Doha. Maybe another big factor is that the kids were entertained by the bar tender! It was peace and quiet breakfast. 

Now wondering if they still offer the buy 1, get  1 breakfast.

Doha Breakfast: Johnny Rockets!

Breakfast time in Doha with family is always fun - especially if we didn't have to clean out the kids mess - and boy, they do make A LOT of mess during breakfast! Such energy, such imagination, such fun!

So, there's this signage in the restaurant back home in the Philippines which made me so irritated.. it goes something like:

"Your love for your kids reflect on their table manners."


Well, a little defensive here, but we sure do love our kids. Our kids are nice (most of the times!), they show respect to elder people, they are strong-willed and so adorably cute that sometimes they forget what they should or should not do in the dining table. It's no big deal for us, the parents, so why should it bother other people?

Although, I must admit, that if these were not our kids and we are the ones seated beside their table, we would definitely comment on how we hated kids in the first place and that customers with kids should pay double the price as they disturb the peace! HAHA! Yes - supposed the sign has a point. Well, Johnny Rockets happily accepted our kids and we did apologize for the mess.

We did enjoy the breakfast immensely. We love the food - eggs, pancakes, french toasts, the works -  and really love -- love the refillable brewed American coffee - the coffee alone have made it all worth it for us.

We had lots of chat over breakfast and everybody was delighted except probably the one who cleaned our table.

Nothing beats waking up early for some calorie overload and chatting with kids and hubs! Life is great!  Now, if only we practice our table manners more often. Hhhhmm...

Dining Out in Doha: Carluccio's

We finally enjoyed the breakfast at Carluccio's! We waited too long for this breakfast at the Pearl but it was worth the wait. It's not 100% authentic Italian food here in Doha but it comes close.

It was not easy to find also for us. At the big round about, we turned right, instead of turning left. So if you are visiting the restaurant, it is at P7. Turn left after the big round about and follow the sign. I think P7 is still under construction right now but there is still a HUGE arrow pointing to the parking entrance of Carluccios. We missed it but we it's a habit of ours to miss important signs. We were able to turn back immediately and after parking the car, it was all breeze finding the restaurant.


The kids are so fond of eggs, and they definitely loved the eggs at Carluccio's. We didn't get to sit outside and enjoy the excellent view while eating because it was already sizzling hot and humid at early mornings. That's a big shame. Although, the kids enjoyed running around inside the restaurants freely. But hey, these kids can run around inside any restaurants no matter how tiny the place is. But in the case of Carluccios, they had some space to run around without irritating other customers who were eating at that time.

We definitely love the kids pack. It's a coloring puzzle. Plus, the pencil colors look elegant and not cheap! The kids had a good time while waiting for the breakfast.

The husband find the food good enough. Not so-so like any other restaurants he tried but not extra good. It's in between his taste. Well, that's not so good then.

It's a good place, though not extraordinary in Doha. We have enjoyed the Opera more this time around. Would we come back? Maybe for lunch or dinner during winter time.

It is a bit expensive for our taste but nothing we can't make at home. If we are going for breakfast again, it would be just to relax and have a long breakfast with husband.

Dining Out in Doha: The Opera Cafe

Another breakfast dining out! This time it's not McDonald's Breakfast. Didn't even realize that The Opera offers breakfast until 12NN at The Mall. Now we know. If we are looking for a quieter breakfast (aka- no kids!), The Opera Cafe breakfast is a nice alternative place.

Although, not fancy breakfast, and the cost is almost the same as McDonald's, although much much healthier with lots of choices - American, French and Mediterranean breakfast, they have the selection. Not to mention fresh juices and free basket of bread.


The Opera Cafe is on 2nd floor of gives a good view of The Mall shops. The shops are still closed during breakfast timing so we had fun looking at the wide space with no shoppers. It's refreshing for early morning. Weird, we know.

Now, if  we would bring the kids here, it would be kids running around and up and down the stairs for sure. NOT!

Doha Breakfast: Dean & Deluca

Currently, Doha weather is awesome and is really conducive to family activities outdoor. Today, we had our share of running and kicking ball in Aspire Park today. At 9AM,  people in the park were already so actively enjoying themselves out.

After an amazing park fun with Turknoys, we had to explore a bit of new food taste.  It was brunch time and we were so close to the Villagio mall, hence the gourmet breakfast preference.

It was our first time to eat breakfast at Dean and Deluca. The ambiance at the restaurant is quite elegant. The posh boutiques surrounding the restaurant set the mood as well. Top of it, there was a Porsche car displayed just in front of the resto.

There is a wide variety of food to choose from. I opted for a healthy breakfast and my first take of caramel macchiato which turned out to be too sweet for my taste buds so had to trade with Cihan's Americano coffee. After tasting my healthy breakfast with Kerim, I eventually traded by meal with Cihan's sandwich as well. I love that we share lives together - I don't have to suffer for my wrong choices in life, and yeah, in meal selection, too.

The kids loved the meal with us and gained enough energy to run around. I am pretty sure we disturb a lot of people wanting a long, quiet breakfast on a Saturday morning. There was, however, a family eating as well just beside our table.

The value for money and customer service is leaning towards the high rating for me. Let's see if their rating deteriorates as they became an "old" institution in Doha. Dean & Deluca opened in Doha late last year.

Although unlikely, I would want to try having breakfast here without the kids. Me and Cihan used to enjoy looong breakfasts in Doha talking about the future. I suppose we are living the future already and it's more than alright. Good thing, Dean & Deluca has very pretty high chairs, normal chairs and most importantly the bars to contain the kids.
